Dear member
RE: NOTICE OF PREMIUM INCREASE AND REVISION OF PRODUCTS AND COVER
Kindly accept our warm greetings
It has been more than five years since we increased our premiums. Our premiums remained the same even during these economic conditions in an effort to keep our services affordable.
It is unfortunately no longer possible to keep them at the same amount beyond this point due to, among other reasons: –
- The attorneys’ tariffs have increased at least twice in the past five years being 2017 and 2020 and another increase is looming before the end of this year, this means that we are now paying almost twice what we were paying when we increased our premiums. It is therefore no longer sustainable to pay legal costs on your behalf, otherwise we will have to ask for your costs contribution or top up!!
- The inflation rate is so high and the petrol price has also sky rocketed such that we are no longer able to offer competitive travelling costs cover to the legal practitioners to attend to your cases.
- We are introducing new products to improve the quality of your legal protection which will enable you to have grace period if you are retrenched for a certain period of time and also cover at least one additional member of your family like a child who is above 18 years of age and not attending school but unemployed.
We trust that your cover will remain of value and of good quality and you will still be proud of being our member despite the increase.
We herein attach a schedule of premium and products option with relevant premiums.
You are also given an opportunity to migrate from one cover options to another during this period if for any reason you will like to change.
The increment will be with effect from 1 June 2023, which means your deductions for the month of June to cover you in July will be higher than the current ones.
You are therefore advised to make funds available in your account.
The Business Cover
Now and then our admin staff and our legal department have a go at each other because of clients whose cases could not be covered because they were in the course and scope of their businesses. Members should be aware by now that we have personal and business cover. A member who took a personal cover does not have a benefit if the matter in question occurred while the member was running a business, let us say for example, a member runs a catering company, he/she bought a vehicle in the names of the company, and then the vehicle is involved in an accident. The member now wants to sue the wrongdoer i.e. the driver who collided with him, upon submission of the case at our legal department’s office; they will then request confirmation of cover from our admin. Immediately it is discovered that the vehicle is registered in the member’s company names, then the case will not be covered.
To avoid the disappointment, we have prepared a business cover which we introduced to you a year ago. Our members seem not to be having a keen interest in it regardless of the fact that a lot of them have businesses that they are running.
The business cover is tailor-made to suit the needs of your business depending on its size. The bigger the company, the higher the risk.
I wish to refer you to our products page and go through the terms and conditions regarding the business plan and see if it does not cater to your needs.
Next time you have a legal issue arising out of a business transaction, we will be there to cover you.
Please note our new contact numbers on our contacts page.
